US President Donald Trump has warned that NATO could face a “very bad future” if allied countries do not support the United States in its efforts related to Iran, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
In an interview with the Financial Times reported on Monday, Trump urged NATO members and other major economies to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial shipping route that has been heavily disrupted during the conflict with Iran. The waterway carries roughly one fifth of the world’s oil and gas shipments, making it one of the most strategically important routes for global energy supplies.
