More Details Released On Man Who Opened Fire Near Vance Motorcade

The episode comes just over a week after another security incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Cole Tomas Allen, 31, of Torrance, California, is accused of entering the Washington Hilton armed with multiple weapons and attempting to reach the ballroom where President Donald J. Trump was attending the event with Cabinet officials and journalists.

Allen made his initial appearance in federal court last week. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jocelyn Ballantine told the court that Allen “attempted to assassinate the president of the United States, Donald J. Trump,” and requested his preventative detention. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues, authorities said.
