I realized that my grandfather hadn’t just left me a business, he had left me a chance to define myself on my own terms. I was no longer the family workhorse or the disappointment, I was a woman who had built a future out of a single plane ticket.
I met world leaders and business icons who spoke to me as an equal and sought my advice on hospitality trends. I realized that my grandfather’s greatest gift wasn’t the money or the buildings, it was the belief that I was capable of greatness.
