More Details Released On Man Who Opened Fire Near Vance Motorcade

A juvenile was shot and injured in an officer-involved incident involving U.S. Secret Service personnel near the White House on Wednesday, authorities said.

The victim, identified only as a juvenile, was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The shooting occurred at the intersection of 15th Street and Independence Avenue in Washington, D.C. The White House was briefly placed on lockdown immediately afterward.

According to Secret Service Deputy Director Mathew C. Quinn, the incident took place just minutes after the vice president had left the area. Secret Service statements described the event as a confrontation between an armed individual and Secret Service Police.
